Penguin Of The Week logo

Penguin of the Week (commonly abbreviated as PotW) is an event that occurs on the What's New Blog on a weekly basis. A penguin gets chosen every Monday (previously Sunday) by Stu. This penguin can be chosen for several reasons:

  • Kind and Friendly Personality - A penguin who is always caring in the community, helping others and making sure that everyone is safe.
  • Stylish Personality - A penguin who is fashionable and has unique taste when it comes to clothes or designing igloos.
  • Media Personality - A penguin who is popular on YouTube for their skits, walkthroughs or guides about Club Penguin Rewritten.
  • Creative Personality - A penguin who actively submits Club Penguin Rewritten fan art on social media.

There are many ways to become Penguin of the Week. Be sure to play well for a chance to get this prestigious position!

  • Each winner gets 1,000 coins and the Green Viking Helmet.
  • Penguin of the Week was usually held on Sundays up until April 24, 2017. Starting April 24, 2017, Penguin of the Week is usually held on Mondays, with the exceptions of #54 and #55, which were both released on a Sunday.
  • Up until Penguin of the Week #50, Zeus did Penguin of the Week. After that, Rainbert did Penguins of the Week #51 to #55. After Rainbert, Stu now does Penguin of the Week from #56 onward.
    • For Penguins of the Week #9, #16, #26, #37 and #41, Stu did Penguin of the Week in-lieu of Zeus as the latter was busy.
    • For Penguins of the Week #59, #60, #64, #66 and #113, Lataus did Penguin of the Week in-lieu of Stu as the latter was busy.
  • Penguin of the Week #6, Gunslinger, is the only Penguin of the Week to have the color around their name be purple. This was because Stu was on a holiday.
  • Various persons have made the art for Penguin of the Week.
    • Stu made the Penguin of the Week art up until #37.

  • Penguin of the Week was paused from March 26, 2017 to April 12, 2017. This was due to the blog being down.
    • However, due to delays, the next Penguin of the Week was not selected until April 24, 2017.
    • Similarly, Penguins of the Week #46 to #50 were posted to Club Penguin Rewritten's official discord server. This was due to the blog being down as well. They were later posted to the blog once the blog was back up.
    • Penguin of the Week was also paused from March 4, 2018 to April 30, 2018. This was due to Club Penguin Rewritten's closure.
  • There was going to be a Joker of the Week for the April Fools' Party 2017, but it was scrapped due to the blog being down at that time.
  • Several Penguins of the Week joined the Club Penguin Rewritten team. These include:
    • #1, BluerQ, who joined the team in 2017. He resigned on June 16, 2018.
    • #2, Lataus, who joined the team on May 18, 2017. He resigned on May 1, 2020.

    • #7, HunterCPPS, who joined the team on July 13, 2017. He was demoted on August 23, 2018, due to inactivity.

  • Staff and ex-staff members cannot get Penguin of the Week.
  • During Operation: Blackout, Penguin of the Week was replaced with Ruler of the Island.
  • Penguin of the Week was originally meant to be Igloo of the Week, but it was scrapped.[5]
  • Penguin of the Week #50 is the first and only Penguin of the Week to be awarded to more than one penguin.
  • Christmas themes were used for Penguins of the Week #84 to #86.
  • Troyella is the first non-staff member to be Joker of the Week.
  • The Penguin of the Week title was sometimes renamed based on the party or event that was ongoing at the time.
    • During the April Fools' Party 2019, Penguin of the Week #99 was appropriately renamed to 'Joker of the Week.
    • During the Halloween Party 2019, Penguins of the Week #129 and #130 were appropriately renamed 'Sled of the Week'.
      • The art for #130 also included a sled behind the penguin.
    • During Puffle Party 2020, Penguin of the Week #146 was appropriately renamed to 'Puffle of the Week'.
    • During the Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt 2020, Penguin of the Week #153 was appropriately renamed to 'Bunny of the Week'.
