Club Penguin Rewritten is a popular remake of the online-based, massively multiplayer role-playing game, Club Penguin.

Since its launch, ''Club Penguin Rewritten'' has accumulated over 250,000 users.

History

Welcome to Club Penguin Rewritten (CPR)! This is a community driven project in efforts to recreate the popular MMO Club Penguin. After the announcement of the imminent closure of Club Penguin, CPR was founded to preserve and bring life back to the game that was apart of so many childhoods. Providing ad-free parties and free membership to all, the game is kept alive by the leading developers, Codey and Hagrid, who have created a thriving community that seems to never stop growing!

Club Penguin Rewritten (CPR) is a recreation of the original Club Penguin as it appeared around the year of 2010. Because of this time period, classic events and features such as Dig Out the Dojo, Penguin Secret Agency, April Fools Day Party and the St. Patrick's Day Party have been brought back for new and old players to enjoy. Club Penguin Rewritten strives to be accurate and true to the original and classic Club Penguin, but also adding new content to improve the experience of the game.

They created "new" mascots! Example: DJ Maxx and Rory.

The creators of CPR also made an item transfer that would retrieve your Penguin Age from clubpenguin.com and give you party hats relative to your age. Unfortunately, Disney shut this down after about three days.

After only 30 days, the game gained 10,000 registered accounts. The site reached 50,000 registered accounts on April 2nd, 2017, and reached 100,000 registered accounts only three days later, on April 5th, 2017. On April 13th, the site suffered a major security breach, most likely caused by the developers decision to use the outdated and easily hacked MD5 to encrypt passwords. It was later confirmed that another CPPS called New Club Penguin stole the files used for their game from Club Penguin Rewritten causing the breach.

The site was down from 14th to 19th April before being re opened and a password change option was made available which the CPR Team recommended to use.
